This will be a busy spring and we hope to see all of you at one or more of our planned activities.

SRWA Calendar of Events.  Spring 2006.

Thursday, March 16. Board and membership meeting.  Everyone welcome.  6:30 p.m., Carriage Lane Reception House, 337 E. Burton St., Murfreesboro.

<>Saturday, March 18 and Saturday, March 25. Visual Stream Assessment Training. 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at Cannonsburg, Murfreesboro.  (Same session each day).  Do you value streams?  If so, come learn how to judge stream health through informed observation of water clarity and the condition of the stream bed and stream banks. John McFadden of the Harpeth River Watershed Association will lead us in a combination of classroom instruction and field work in the Lytle Creek corridor. This training is provided at no cost to participants through a grant from the Tenn. Dept. of Agriculture. Please pre-register by contacting Beth Chesson at 867-8685 or email at president@stoneswatershed.org.  More detailed information will be sent to pre-registrants.

Saturday, April 8. "Stones Throw Away" river cleanup sponsored by Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation.  SRWA will have a designated area to work so watch for further information about time and place.

Thursday, April 20. Board and membership meeting.  Everyone welcome.  6:30 p.m., Carriage Lane Reception House, 337 E. Burton St., Murfreesboro.

Saturday, April 22. EARTH DAY!  SRWA will participate both in Murfreesboro and Smyrna.  We will have a booth at the community celebration on the Murfreesboro City Plaza from 10 am to 3 pm, and will send volunteers to help with a stream cleanup in Smyrna.  If you can possibly help with either part please contact Lori at 692-2126, or shellseeker1997@yahoo.com.

Saturday, May 13. Cleanup of Murfree Spring at the Discovery Center,  502 SE Broad St., Murfreesboro, 8:30 to 11:30 am.  Watershed groups throughout Middle Tennessee will be doing similar activities in celebration of National River Cleanup week.

Tuesday, May 16. SRWA presentation to AARP chapter of Rutherford County. 2 pm, St. Clair Center, Murfreesboro.  Topic: The value of stream buffers.

Thursday, May 18. Board and membership meeting.  Everyone welcome.  6:30 p.m., Carriage Lane Reception House, 337 E. Burton St., Murfreesboro.

Saturday, June 24. SRWA Annual Meeting, 3 pm, Wilderness Station at Barfield Park, Murfreesboro.  We will have educational programs, kids' environmental education activities, potluck dinner, a woods walk and possibly some music.  Watch for more information.
