Greetings
from Your Stones River Watershed Association. January, 2008
A new year always brings
opportunities for new resolve and plans for the future. We hope that
your new year will include
participation in some of the many
activities and events planned by SRWA. Our organization has managed to
accomplish a great
deal in the (almost) five years
since its founding, but there is a lot more that can be done. Our
scarcest resource is you
and people like you who will invest
some time in advancing our mission.
Our strongest need is in core
operational skills, such as marketing, grant writing and
administration, and accounting. We have a special need right now for
help with graphic design. You can make a difference in our
community by bringing in your skills, energy and ideas. Please
let us know of your interest in helping in any way to keep our streams
clean. Email is srwa@stoneswatershed.org.
Coming events:
Thursday,
January 17. Membership meeting, 6:30 p.m.. The meeting will
begin with a presentation by Sue Ferguson of the Nashville District,
Corps of Engineers, about plans for a COE study of the Cumberland River
basin, including tributary systems like the Stones. The program
will be followed by the monthly business meeting of the Executive
Committee. Everyone is invited. Carriage Lane Reception House, 337 E.
Burton St., Murfreesboro.
Saturday,
Feb. 2. Stream Cleanup on the Middle Fork at Elam Mill. This
will be mostly on the banks though we may put some
boats in if the weather permits.
Start time is 9 a.m. Meeting place to be announced. If you want to
participate please notify Randle Branch at randle@stoneswatershed.org
or 686-3602. We'll be watching the weather and contacting participants
if plans change.
Other dates to mark:
Every third
Thursday: Board and membership meeting.
April 5: Cleanup in Percy Priest
Lake (co-sponsored by Cumberland River Compact and Lightning 100).

be held in the fall.
