BOAT DAY
Saturday, July 11.
Two locations in Smyrna and Murfreesoro. Both will provide prospective paddlers the chance to try out a range of boat types in a safe environment.
Smyrna:
9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Stewart Creek Recreation Area (with thanks to the Corps of Engineers.) We are assisting the Smyrna Stormwater program for this event.
The Stewart Creek Recreation Area is off Weakley Ln. about 2.5 miles north of its intersection with Sam Ridley Pkwy.
Murfreesboro:
9 a.m. to noon, Manson Pike trailhead of the Murfreesboro Greenway. We are assisting Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation to offer this event for the 5th year.
The site is off Medical Center Pkwy, just west of Old Nashville Hwy. and the Stones River Bridge. Turn on Searcy Ave.
At both locations paddlers will be given safety tips and will be fitted with a life jacket. Our safety boaters will be on hand in the water. Children and youth under 18 must have a parent or guardian to sign in.
Special Thanks to Dick's Sporting Goods
Our local branch is once again supporting this event with a donated kayak and paddle that will be given away through a drawing open to all Murfreesboro participants.
